JOB SEEKING
"It is your work in life that is the ultimate seduction." - Pablo Picasso
Job seeking is what people do when they are unemployed in order to find a job.The point is how to build an efficient job-seeking strategy. First, consider renaming job seeking and call it job hunting, and be aware that in order to find a job you must have a kind of life similar to that of employed people. You don't need to be an early bird, but staying in bed too long in the morning certainly doesn't help. So do not sit idly, waiting for things to fall into your lap. If you want to become a good job-hunter, you must be a doer. Be active and build yourself an appropriate strategy. To a large degree, getting a job will depend on how well you make a self-inventory of your skills, abilities and interests. What are your strengths ? Your skills? What are your likes and dislikes? It is also very important to look at your personality and turn of mind. Are you an extrovert or an introvert type of person? Do you have a sensing or intuiting turn of mind? Is what most defines you thinking or feeling? Preferences are also very important. Do you prefer to organize things or adapt to them? Do you prefer to work alone or do you like team work? There are many other questions you can think of in order to have an even better knowledge of yourself. If you intend to do job hunting, asking yourself the right questions will put you on the right road. Get to know your profile. Are you a realistic or investigative type of person?According to Dr John Holland's theory, realistic people are "doers", investigative persons are "thinkers", artistic people are "creators", social people are "helpers", enterprising ones are "persuaders", while conventional people are "organisers". Which profile , or combination of all these profiles, best matches your own personality ? And what about your centres of interests? If you have too many interests in too many areas, you have a "low" profile. If you have a clearly differentiated area of interests, you have a "high" profile.
