HALLOWEEN TODAY
1) Hollowing a pumpkin
People carve and hollow out a pumpkin. If you put a candle inside, you get a 'Jack o' lantern'.
2) Trick or treat
Children, dressed up in scary costumes go "trick-or-treating" to various homes. By saying "Trick or treat", they offer adults an alternative : a trick (a mischief they will do to adults) or a "treat" such as sweets or candy (something the adults can give to keep the children from doing any mischief.) Of course adults never expect any "trick", and the children always get a "treat".
