& WHICH Use
"what" and "which"
to ask questions about people or things. ·
"Which teacher
do you like best?" ·

you like?" Use
"which" when you are choosing between
a small number , and "what" when you
are choosing among a large number. HOW
FAR / HOW OFTEN / HOW LONG You can
use "how far" to ask questions about distance.

"How far is the
beach?"- "Only five minutes'walk." Use
"how often" to ask about frequency. ·
"How often do
you see him?" – "About once a week." "How
long"is for questions about the duration
of events or activities ·
"How long have
you been studying English?" –"About 15 years." HOW

"how much" and "how many" to ask about quantity. ·

did you spend? Use how
much in front of an uncountable noun and
"how many" when you are talking about countable
things. HOW +
OLD Use
"how" in front of the adjective
"old" to ask questions about age.
"How old is your
brother?" – "He's twenty;" WHEN Use "when" to ask about time or a moment in time. "When will you come?" WHERE Use "where" to ask about location and places. "Where did you put my dictionary?" WHY Use "why" to ask about cause, reason or purpose. "Why did you take that course?" |
