FIRST THING FIRST Multilevel classes are often considered a headache for teachers, especially at the beginning of their career. At this stage they think they will never be able to cope with the situation. My idea is that we can exploit the great variety of such large classes instead of being hindered by it. Variety can lead to collaboration among the students as they may learn from one another. There are different ways you can adapt materials for a multilevel class. The key is that it is all right for learners in the same class to be tackling material in different ways. This, in my opinion, is a basic principle of teaching a multilevel class. Are there any other ones? from : Patrick Lecordier, ERP Oissel October 31, 2002 reply |
