6. Loch Ness

The lake is located in north central Scotland.

It is 35 km long and more than 200 m deep.

Although some people pretend having spotted Nessie, there is no scientific evidence that the creature may exist.

Many expeditions have been sent for the purpose of tracing the existence of the so-called "Loch Ness monster", but to no avail. To date, Nessie has remained an invisible entity, perhaps the mere product of the fertile imagination and fantasy of some people.

7.1884

Before 1884, people set their clocks by the sun. In 1884, Standard Time , the time at the prime meridian  or universal time, also called GMT (Greenwich Mean Time), was created. Greenwich, borough of Greater London,  was chosen as the primary point of reference, the prime meridian, for Standard Time throughout the world. The earth was divided into twenty-four regions of one hour, each with a different time of day. The sun takes an hour to cross each zone. The regions are along the lines of longitude, Greenwich, being the Prime Meridian, or starting point, the zero line of longitude. The International Date Line is 180 degrees from the Prime Meridian. This puts it largely in the Pacific Ocean. When you cross the line the date changes. The Western side of the International Date Line is one day ahead of the Eastern side.
