The official residence of the British prime minister is located at Nb 10 on this street, in the West End of London, and Cabinet meetings are often held there. The chancellor of the Exchequer and the Foreign Office also have their residence on Downing street. The street was so named in honor of Sir George Downing, secretary of the treasury in 1667. |

5. Central Intelligence Agency
The Central Intelligence Agency was created in 1947 with the signing of the National Security Act by President Truman.
