Before granting a job interview ,
employers–to-be want to have a summary of the applicant's career and
qualifications. So, people applying for a post are often asked to send their CV,
or curriculum vitae (course of one's life).
Writing a CV is thus a necessary step in every job search
. If you are looking
for a job, you should take great care
in writing your CV, for getting a job
interview will largely depends on what you will say in your CV.
GUIDELINES TO WRITING A CV
Information
in a CV traditionally comes under
the following
headings.
1.PERSONAL DETAILS
Enter your full name and address, telephone
number, fax number, and date of
birth.
2.EDUCATION
Schools
attended and qualifications.
Enter all the details, including diplomas and achievements in fields like music
or sports.
3.TRAINING PERIODS
List any training you have received
on
or off the job.
4.PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Indicate which positions you
held, where you
held them and when . Adopt a reverse chronological format , listing your latest
job first, then the one before that. This will enable the employer to see
immediately what level you have reached.
5.SUMMARY OF SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Write details of all procedures you
are competent in . You should emphasize the experience and skills that are
relevant to the position you are applying for.
6.LANGUAGES
State if you
have any
working knowledge
of foreign languages.Which ones? Are you fluent
in
these languages?
7.INTERESTS AND ACTIVITIES
List
interests , hobbies, club membership, sporting activities…etc
8.GENERAL
Write here any other relevant
information you may wish to present such as references for example.
